After being stuck indoors for weeks on end, while the sun has done nothing but shine, we all deserve a bit of R&R. Fortunately, that means starting our engines and heading to Monaco! But JUST going to Monaco would be boring. Monaco is just an excuse for a few drinks, the important stuff is what sits either side!
Day 1 we leave Blighty, via the stunning peaks of the Massif de Charteuse, and head for Grenoble.
Day 2 is ALL about driving, as you’ll get to drive 200km of incredible shelf-road – the Route Napoleon! If you really do need to relax, then there’s no place better than the Fairmont in Monaco, which will be your home for the evening. There will be a group dinner at the old casino (now Buddhe Bar), followed by more fun at Jimmy’z Bar.
After all the fun of Sunday night, you’ll probably be looking to get back in the saddle. Day 3 we head to the upscale ski-resort of Chamonix, and on the way you will drive the following: the Col du Turini, Col de la Lombardi, Col de la Bonnette, Col Agnel, Col du Nivolet, and the Maddelena Pass (well, we cant just drive Cols!).
Day 4 we head to Baden-Baden, and the epic roads just keep coming: the Routes des Cretes, The Big Three (Susten, Grimsel, Furka Pass’), The Feldberg Pass, and The Black Forest Hochstrasse! Baden-Baden might be a sleepy little spa town, but beneath that staid exterior is a den of veritable iniquity. Sort of. Well, not at all really, they just have a really awesome casino! So make sure you bring your Dinner Jacket, Smoking Jacket, and monogrammed velvet slippers, because final night is Casino Night!
Assuming you’re OK to drive before midday, Day 5 brings a final opportunity to stretch your legs. If it’s open (it often isn’t) then we’ll be heading home via the Nordschleife!
